Sorrento
A relatively straightforward brief from the homeowners required a seamless, flowing outcome from inside out, particularly around the pool and alfresco area where space was most limited.
This denoted the careful selection of colours and materials throughout the landscaping to increase the volume of each zone.
Travertine was selected for its coolness and simplicity, with a sandy colour that evoked light. The clients liked this product choice so much, they continued the travertine through the internal areas of the home, blurring the lines of where the interior stopped and the exterior began.
Tiling was used to cover the wall alongside the pool, blending beautifully with the travertine and adding texture to the perimeter.
Accomplishing the desired beach-resort theme, the strikingly cool colour of the pool is complemented by outdoor wicker furniture in white with cyan cushions.
The front of the home is especially eye-catching thanks to the use of simple, clean landscaping lines with retaining walls and steps to create a split-level area without compromising space.
Simplistic focal points such as the garden bench on artificial turf, framed by agave plants, and the clever use of lighting achieve that 'wow' factor.
The landscaped areas to the front of the home are just as relaxing as the rear, with continuity of materials and colours.
Dragon trees, agave, frangipani and dracaenas have been planted liberally yet purposefully throughout this area, chosen for their hardiness yet distinct association with resorts and relaxation.
