Join in the national conversation around mental health by participating in the inaugural Kings Park Wellness Walk on October 20.

This year, the theme of National Mental Health Month is 'Better mental health for all', and that is exactly what the Kings Park Wellness Walk seeks to promote.

As part of National Mental Health Month (October 1 - 30), participants across Australia will take part in a Wellness Walk organised by the Mental Health Foundation Australia. One of the oldest mental health associations in the country, the Foundation aims to raise awareness about mental health and to help break the stigma associated with it.

The mental health benefits of walking have been widely recognised, and what better way to encourage mental wellbeing than by taking a springtime stroll through Kings Park?

Since starting in Victoria two years ago, the Foundation Walk has seen thousands of participants show their support by lacing up their sneakers and walking with the community.

This is the first time the event will be taking place in WA, and the Mental Health Foundation invites those from all walks of life to take part in a relaxed 4km walk through Kings Park and Botanical Garden.

With wildflower season underway, this is a great opportunity to experience Kings Park in full bloom as you exercise both mind and body. You can register as a single participant or get a group together and make a day of it alongside others who share an interest in mental wellbeing. Participants are encouraged to bring a picnic and stay around after the walk to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of one of Perth's most iconic attractions.

Funds raised through the walk will be reinvested in local Mental Health programs in the WA community.
