If you haven’t paid a visit to the new WA Museum Boola Bardip, here’s another reason to find the time. Renowned fashion label Antipodium is currently being displayed as part of the Innovations exhibition in the museum’s Rio Tinto Gallery.

The brainchild of WA local designer Ashe Peacock, Antipodium is a contemporary women’s fashion line born in London in 2008. Since then, it has been spotted on celebrities such as Taylor Swift and Alexa Chung.

Located on the museum’s mezzanine level, Innovations is a celebration of the art, music, science and fashion produced out of Western Australia. Fashion lovers can explore iconic pieces from the Antipodium closet, including Ashe’s Beagle Shirt Dress, a playful design that is considered the heart of the brand’s style, and other pieces created by her talented family members, mother Libby and sister Fenella. As you check out the Peacocks’ quirky and colourful designs, you can also read up on the inspiration that drove Antipodium.

Ashe began Antipodium with a team of young Australians working in London. The team participated in many London Fashion Week shows and worked to stock Antipodium in prominent stores around the world, including Liberty of London, Barneys Co-op in New York and Isetan. Ashe now lives between the UK and Margaret River where she owns Moonrise Farm, a picturesque holiday home set in Rosabrook. Her artistic flair is reflected in the beautiful country-chic décor of the cottages and farmhouses seen on the property.

For those of you interested in checking out Ashe’s exhibit, the WA Museum Boola Bardip is open from 9.00am to 5.00pm daily, with the Rio Tinto Gallery free to enter. If you get peckish, you can stop for lunch and enjoy delicious, WA-inspired dishes at the popular museum café Epoch, located just of Beaufort Street.
