By 2020, it is estimated there will be 17,210 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in women per annum. With breast cancer on the rise it is now more important than ever to be breast aware.
The partnership between Breast Cancer Care WA and Steel Blue has to date seen a generous $750,000 donated from Steel Blue sales of over 30,000 pairs of purple boots. Steel Blue’s new pink or purple Southern Cross boots for ladies will help Steel Blue to reach new milestones with Breast Cancer Care WA.
In 2010, Breast Cancer Care WA with support from Steel Blue created Breast Cancer Click (‘The Click’), a free online support community for those affected by a breast cancer diagnosis, either as a patient, carer, family member or friend.
Throughout her breast cancer journey, Sue has found solace in ‘The Click’s’ forum discussions as an outlet for dealing with breast cancer. She joined ‘The Click’ in 2012 to turn to others who were going through or had shared similar experiences to herself.
Sue is a true blue survivor when it comes to breast cancer. She was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 at the age of 55, in 2012 she was diagnosed for a second time and in January 2015 Sue is undergoing radiation treatment to treat her third case of breast cancer.
“Unlike family who can often go into terror, The Click connected me with others who understood what I was going through. The members on the forum are lovely, everyone is calming and supportive. They are okay with being angry and feeling pissed off, and they have all had a similar experience and are there to help you find a way of dealing with the emotions,” said Sue.
