The WA film scene is surprisingly diverse. There's a plethora of film festivals celebrating foreign, arthouse and local cinema. Independent cinemas, from charming art deco gems to drive-ins and quirky deckchair venues in Broome and Rottnest provide a unique viewing experience. In summer, more than 10 outdoor cinemas are set up from parks and city rooftops right down to Cape Mentelle Winery. For serious film buffs, Perth is host to an impressive array of international festivals, whilst also featuring homegrown flicks at both the Perth and Lotterywest Film Festivals.
