Strings Attached Guitar Festival

Set in Margaret River – well known for its wine and fine arts – Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival is launching 11-13 October 2019.

Just out this week, the program boasts 60+ performances, 40+ masterclasses, presentations and panel discussions from over 60 artists and more than 20 exhibitors from around the country.

The Main Exhibition, set at the Festival Hub - the adequately named new culture & entertainment venue Margaret River HEART (Hub of Entertainment, Arts & Regional Touring) – will host guitar makers from around the country showcasing and demonstrating their work, plus retailers, gear manufacturers & distributors. Additional exhibitions exploring the many faces and impacts of guitars will be on show at other venues throughout the town and wider region for festival-goers to enjoy.

Kings Park Festival

The award winning Kings Park Festival celebrates Spring during the month of September, with remarkable wildflowers, plant life and culture of Western Australia.

Throughout September, the Kings Park Festival presented amazing spring displays of wildflowers and many free events including outdoor exhibitions, guided walks and talks, photography displays, family activities and more. Around half a million people visited the 2018 Festival.

Festival Highlights:

The 'Greatest Show on Earth' outdoor exhibition featuring epic WA landscapes by renowned nature photographer David Bettini was a major hit.
New outdoor wellness activities - with meditation, tai chi, yoga and fitness classes attracted many participants.

Live acoustic musicians, lawn games and deck chairs at the Botanic Base chill-out zone were enjoyed by thousands of people each weekend.
Daily wildflower walks and other guided walks on a range of interesting topics from boab trees and birds, to art and history attracted a record number of bookings.
Events for native gardening enthusiasts including the famous Friends of Kings Park native plant sale and weekly 'Dig it with Coffee' native gardening advice sessions were extremely popular.
Working artists and creative displays in Aspects of Kings Park gallery shop were enjoyed by hundreds of shoppers across the month.

The Kings Park Festival has been held for 55 years, making it one of the longest running festivals in Australia.

IGA Perth Royal Show

The IGA Perth Royal Show is the highlight of the spring school holidays!

The IGA Perth Royal Show is Perth's biggest community event attracting 350,000 visitors from the city and the country every year. With a rich history spanning 170 years, the Show is an iconic social and cultural event which showcases WA agriculture, small business and entertainment.

There are 10,000 animals in competition or on display. From cattle to sheep, alpacas to goats, dogs to cats, sheep dog trials, horse events, cavies and rabbits, contests will be toughly fought as exhibitors vie for the prestigious prizes, awards and trophies on offer. There are animals to pat and cuddle at the Animal Nursery, Pigeons & Poultry Pavilion and the Creatures Great and Small Pavilion.

Produced on a size and scale never seen in Australia before, Planet Shark includes awe-inspiring models of real sharks, an extraordinary collection of shark teeth and jaws, and extremely old and rare fossils—some up to 370 million years old.

This exhibition also includes a walk through gallery where you will be mesmerised by stunning HD projections of underwater shark footage.
