Despite my secret expectations, these films aren’t about jolly Nonnas in aprons making pasta… Although, the actual rundown sounds just as intriguing!

Let's all agree, us Aussies are huge fans of everything Italian- pasta, wine, cars- the list goes on. However, if you're wanting to immerse yourself in the Italian Arts instead of eating carbonara in your ferrari (which we obviously all do), then the Lavazza Italian Film Festival is ideal.

Festival Director Elysia Zeccola Hill says Australains have long been fascinated with the Italian culture, as it reminds us of that European escape we all dream of going on. She says it's why the LIFF has become such a success nationwide since its debut in 2000.

Elysia says the films are really unpredictable- and thats what she loves. "Not knowing how it's going to end- I really enjoy that in films".

The LIFF team hand picked the 'il meglio del meglio' (best of the best) in Italian films from the last 12 months- all of which have screened at Cannes and the Berlinale. In other words, thats a top quality selection!

Tickets for the remaining films are selling fast! Don't miss out- buy those tix! The festival end date is Sunday 16th October.
