Taste Great Southern has announced a new event for its annual festival of taste and flavour – a music festival celebrating contemporary artists from across the country. Southern Sets will take place on Sunday April 5 following the highlight food and wine festival event on Saturday.
Strings Attached: The West Australian Guitar Festival, received much acclaim and support as the unique South West festival wrapped up on Sunday 13 October. The event attracted close to 8,000 attendees across 27 stages and venues in and around Margaret River from 11-13 October.
The finalists have been announced for the Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA), and Fremantle-based photographer and filmmaker Tashi Hall has made the cut in not one, but two categories. The awards’ second year will be hosted in Brisbane on 9 October, recognising exemplary talent in female performers across genres and mediums.

WAAPA’s Music Artists present original works alongside reimagined classics from the popular music cannon in an annual showcase called Songbook Sessions. Playing next Wednesday and Thursday at The Edith Spiegeltent at ECU Mount Lawley, the academy’s rising musical stars will feature in solo, duo, trio, full band and even full vocal choir renditions across the two nights.
Perth-raised musical star Tim Minchin returns to his hometown next March as part of an Australia-wide tour. Performing at Crown Theatre on 6 March 2020, the billed BACK tour promises to deliver hits from the prodigy’s illustrious repertoire, as well as some flashy new tracks.
