White roses, camellias, crepe myrtles and ornamental pear trees are just some of the plants the talented design team at Empire Lane selected for this traditional Nedlands abode.

Empire Lane is a boutique landscape-design company, located centrally in the beautiful, leafy suburb of Menora.

Owner and operator Ceri Wagnell is a multi award-winning designer with a passion for timeless gardens, natural products, beautiful accessories and lush Mediterranean-style planting.

Combining the client's wish list with her expertise and personal approach enables Ceri to produce individual designs presented in detailed 3D format. Empire Lane can also provide a full installation service through its regular team of fully qualified sub-contractors.

NEDLANDS

When the owners of this Californian bungalow in Nedlands first purchased the property, they knew it would require some serious love to bring it back to its former glory.

They commissioned Ceri Wagnell from Empire Lane to create an art deco-inspired garden to complement the renovations that were being undertaken on both the interior and exterior. Empire Lane's previous work with semi-formal planting palettes, its structured layouts, and the timeless appeal of its designs had all drawn the clients' attention.

Their wish list included a new carport to match the style and architecture, new limestone walls and retaining on the sloping front garden, a new driveway, a reflection pond, a small amount of lawn, and a place
to enjoy the vista. It was important to show attention to detail in the design, and the carport was perfectly matched to the home's fretwork, corbels and tiles.

Black and white was the colour palette requested, and the beautiful tiles in the shallow pond were a luxury splurge.

The new boundary wall was painted in 'Monument' by Dulux, for a stunning contrast with the white of the garden arbour. In time, this will be covered in wisteria-scented purple flowers.

The garden lighting illuminates the trees and pond in the evening, and the front verandah becomes the perfect spot to soak up the ambience with family and friends.

The owners were so delighted with the result, they are already thinking of the next home and garden Empire Lane can bring to life.
