Palace Arcade

Tucked away on Beaufort St is the acclaimed Palace Arcade, boasting over 150 classic machines that bring the magic of old-school gaming to Perth. The Palace has established itself as one of the most prominent nostalgic hotspots in the CBD, and being open until 2am on weekends makes it an ideal spot for a late-night bite. Palace also carries an extensive back bar of spirits and craft beers, and is renowned for its New York-style pizza.

Family Fun Park

Fancy a trip across the water? Bring the kids to Rottnest and make a day of it with a visit to the Fun Park - a treasure trove of mini golf, trampolining and a classic neon arcade. Keep warm with a serving of the park’s homemade crepes while the kids are kept busy with quintessential arcade games such as Pacman, Space Invaders, air-hockey and pinball.

Player 1

With over 20 arcade machines, modern and vintage consoles, board games, puzzles and Lego, Player 1 is a sentimental game-lovers haven. Centrally located in North Perth, the arcade has firmly established itself not only as a hub for Perth gamers, but also for musicians. The store is also a music school, so if you fancy yourself a muso, book a lesson with one of the store’s experienced teachers before your next round of Donkey Kong.

Nostalgia Box

A stone’s throw away from the Palace Arcade, you’ll find The Nostalgia Box Museum, a time capsule of childhood memories and technological fascination. With over 100 consoles to learn about, this is a great way of introducing younger generations to vintage games from Pong to Crash Bandicoot. With a lot to learn and even more to play in their interactive games area, you can’t go wrong with a visit to this retro location – which also happens to be Australia’s first and only Video Game and Console Museum.

Game City

Hidden in the outskirts of the Perth Underground, Game City is a unique cafe experience that is perfect for game-lovers. Adorned with retro paraphernalia and 8-bit art, there is artwork for hardcore and casual gamers alike to peruse – and of course, a plethora of games that are best enjoyed over a cup of the café’s freshly-roasted coffee.
