With Christmas right around the corner, it’s time to get into the festive spirit! Christmas isn’t complete without jovial carols, heart-warming festive flicks and magical light displays, so be sure to make the most of what WA has to offer this holiday season.

Carols

Get the whole family excited for Santa with an enchanting evening of Christmas Carols.

This Friday, Marina Prior is making her way to Astor Theatre to perform her beloved Christmas hits for the first time in WA. Known for her amazing 27 features in the annual Carols by Candlelight concert televised by Channel 9, Marina’s talented performance is set to transport audiences to a whimsical winter wonderland. Starting at 7:00pm, you’ll be in for a night filled with stunning vocals and Christmas stories.

Need an event suitable for the whole family? This Saturday, WASO is joining forces with Lottery West to bring you the ultimate family Christmas Carols in the park. Kicking off from 7:30pm, you can enjoy a magical evening under the stars and sing along to favourites such as Jingle Bells and Silent Night performed by over 150 talented entertainers. Finish the night with a bang with the event’s colourful firework display set to the backdrop of Perth’s stunning city skyline.

The Southwest is buzzing this time of year and on Tuesday the 18th, Lions Park Dunsborough is hosting a fantastic Christmas Carols event showcasing accomplished local singers and jazz performers. Grab your picnic gear and enjoy a night of music with the whole family. Carols commence at 6:45pm and we hear even Santa Claus may make an appearance!

Movies

It’s outdoor cinema season in WA, and with the weather heating up for summer, why not check out your favourite holiday flick under the stars amongst your nearest and dearest?

Everyone loves The Muppets! Get the whole family together next Wednesday to enjoy a fun night of Muppet madness at Telethon Community Cinemas Bassendean. In this festive film, The Muppets take on the Charles Dickens’ holiday classic with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit. The film starts at 7:45pm but get there earlier and you’ll bag yourself the best spot. There will be a variety of food vendors to purchase from, or feel free to bring your own for a picnic.

What’s more romantic than a night under the stars within the beautiful gardens of Kings Park? All-time favourite Christmas film, Love Actually is showing at Moonlight Cinema next Tuesday. Set in London, the story follows 9 different intertwined love stories in the lead up to Christmas. Gates open at 6pm, so make sure you get there early to ensure you get a good spot on the lawn. It’s the ultimate romantic comedy and beanbag beds, blankets and picnic rugs are most welcome.

Want to see something a little bit different this holiday season? This Friday, experience the fun genre mash up Anna and the Apocalypse, a Christmas zombie musical film that follows the story of Anna and her friends as a zombie apocalypse threatens her home. Head over to Luna Outdoor Cinema at 7pm for an intimate viewing experience with a variety of seating options.

Lights

Nothing screams Christmas more than celebratory yuletide lights! Make the most of the beautiful light displays throughout WA.

Perth’s CBD has been transformed into a magical Christmas utopia with thousands of bright dazzling lights throughout the whole city. Follow the mapped-out journey or make your own through the wonderful displays of the Christmas Lights Trail. Complete with Santa’s Magical Castle, Giant Christmas Baubles and much more.

Want to cruise by the Christmas lights in style? Mandurah Cruises are taking you and your family on a one hour cruise through Mandurah’s most luxurious canal homes. Departing every night from Mandjar Bay, expect to see extravagant sparkling displays whilst participating in a fabulous Christmas carols sing-along.

This month, bring the whole family along to experience the Magic of Christmas at Wanneroo Botanical Gardens. You can dine, play mini golf or stroll through the light trails with almost 100,000 bulbs lighting up the gardens. We recommend visiting from 7pm for the best viewing experience.
