Description

Burkitts Reef is a popular shore diving site located in Bargara, near Bundaberg.

It is easily accessible from the shore and suitable for divers of all levels. The reef fringes the headland and is covered in beautiful hard corals. Divers can spot numerous nudibranchs, as well as moray eels, wobbegongs, stingrays, crayfish, and olive sea snakes. The reef is also visited by pelagic fish such as trevally, barracuda, and queenfish. The best time to explore Burkitts Reef is between November and April, with water temperatures ranging from 23 to 29 degrees Celsius and an average visibility of 15 meters. To get to Bargara, you can take the Bundaberg-Bargara road or use public transport services like Greyhound and Premier.
