The Subiaco Renaissance shows no sign of slowing as it seems every week, a once empty shop front reopens its doors and breathes new life.  And it’s not just bars and restaurants. Late last year, high-end women’s fashion boutique MARA Collective opened on the corner of New Lane and Rokeby Rd, bringing a much-needed sense of style to Subi’s hospitality-heavy scene.

Owned and operated by the ever-stylish Jill Hoad and co founder Liz Carberry, MARA brings an exciting new flavour to Subiaco and a renewed faith in Subi’s retail fashion scene.  Both Jill and Liz have lived and worked in Subiaco for over 30 years and saw a gap in the market for timeless, high-quality fashion. They didn’t want to just open another boutique, but instead looked to create an experience tailored to the most discerning shoppers at a price point that suits.

With over 30 years’ experience, Jill brings a wealth of experience while Liz’s impressive 40-year journey in the industry adds depth and insight. Catering to a wide age group, the clothes are hand-selected from Australian designers such as Zoe Kratzmann to internationally recognised brands like Rebecca Vallance. Exclusivity is ensured through carefull curation and exclusive stocking rights with Sachin & Babi from New York and up-and-coming brands such as local Perth designer Antoinette Rapheal and her brand Raw War.

The collection embodies a fusion of functionality and fashion, offering statement pieces adaptable for both daywear and formal occasions for women who prioritise quality and exclusivity over fleeting fads. Jill and Liz also make a point of stocking clothes that are easily layered and can transition between seasons and hemispheres. There is also a good range of accessories from bags and scarves to sunglasses and jewellery with different price points – perfect for a gift, or just to spoil yourself!

The store is spacious and beautifully appointed with clothes and accessories spaced in easy-to-browse aisles. The sitting area towards the back, with its large mirror and gorgeous couches, is lush and an uncommon charm for a high-street store. It’s the perfect space to enjoy a tea or coffee, steal a cuddle with beloved in-house pups, Milly and Mac, have a chat and contemplate what to buy next!

So why do people keep coming back to MARA Collective? It's simple – they love the range, the exclusivity, and the personalised touch that Jill, Liz, and their team offer. It’s shopping that transcends a mere transaction. MARA Collective: welcome to Subi!
